LaVeda Hill Swindle, 88, of Jacksonville was born April 20, 1920 to Allie M. Powell Hill and David Roy Hill. Sr. went home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 24, 2009 in Jacksonville, Florida. She leaves her loving and devoted Husband, Armard (Al) Swindle; Daughter, Jackie (Wesley) Dicks; Grandchildren, Cynthia (Frank) Velazques, Sheryl (David) Howell, Cary (Terrianne) Dicks, Mitchell (Karen) Dicks, Lisa (Michael) Wallace, Lori (Trey) Dutton; Great-Grandchildren, Tyler (Brittany) Howell, John Wesley Howell, Adam Howell, Alyssa Velazquez, Olivia Dicks, Chelsea Velazquez, Mackenzie Dicks, Ashlee Dutton, Wes Dicks, Payton Velazquez, Julianna Dicks, Jared Velazquez, Blake Dutton, Jacob Wallace, Brianna Velazquez, Mason Dicks and Allison Wallace; Son-in-Law, Rick Avila, Dallas, TX, Step-Daughter, Brenda (Roy) Smith, Bloomsburg, PA; Step-Son, Rod (Jan) Wills; Step-Granddaughter, Shannon Amundson, Mt. Vernon, WA; Step-Grandsons, Jed (Alicia) Smith and Bridger Smith; Step-Great Granddaughter, Mia Smith; Step-Great Grandson, Cy Smith; Sister, Sylvia (Dolly) Hayes, Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Brothers, David Hill and Wallace Hill; Sisters, Evelyn Causey, Estelle Smith, Faye Hutchinson and her Daughter, Carolyn DeLoach Avila. She had many Nieces and Nephews along with very special lifelong Friends here in Jacksonville. She was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She was very creative and loved sewing, cooking and gardening (member of Local Garden Club) many times making special gifts for Family and Friends. Her deep and abiding love for her Savior and Lord was reflected in her teaching Sunday School at 1st Baptist Church, Oceanway, FL, Lake Forest Baptist and Parkwood Baptist Churches in Jacksonville. A Christian graveside service will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road with her Grandson-in-Law, Dr. David Howell officiating. A private celebration will be held on the riverfront on the St. Johns River in Palatka, FL after the services in Jacksonville. Arrangements are under the care of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, FL.
