Hannah Andrew was born in 1704 as the daughter of Reverand Samuel and Abigail Treat Andrew. She was christened at the First Church of Milford on 17 November 1704. She married John Woodruff, a Captain in the Militia of 1750 about 1726. John and Hannah joined the church in Milford 18 May 1735. They amassed considerable land in Oxford, Ct. and in the Parish of Derby.

According to the Compilation by Susan Woodruff Abbott & Lila Woodruff, Early Conn Probate Records, Hartford, v4, the children of John and Hannah Andrews Woodruff were:
Samuel Andrew Woodruff b. 1731
David Woodruff b. May 1735
Enoch Woodruff b. Mar 1741/2
Isaac Woodruff b. April 20, 1746
John Woodruff b. September 28, 1729
Hannah Woodruff b. before May 18, 1735 when she was christened and died on August 16, 1809.
Abigail Woodruff b. Feb 12, 1738/9 Christened August 20, 1739 She married Fitch Kimberly July 6, 1758.
Matthew Woodruff b. Dec 18 1743

HANNAH ANDREWS WOODRUFF died between 1743-1754 and John married his second wife, Sarah Baldwin. The baptisms of the first ten children are in the records of the Milford First Church, 1735- 1750. There is a break in the record from May 31, 1752, to March 1, 1767.

John Woodruff's will, which is no longer in the Probate records, was dated 3 April 1767 and proven on 3rd March 1768. Interesting tidbit: Item 15 states: "...that if either of my children shall try to make disturbance amongst the brothers and sisters, or to break my will, that he or she shall be cut off from all that I give, only 5 shillings as the law directs". In the probate record the only document now on file is the inventory. However, the Baldwin Genealogy, by Charles A. Baldwin, M. A., (p. 53), gives a synopsis of the will of Capt. John Woodruff of Milford, dated Apr. 3, 1767, proved 3rd Monday of March 1768; children, John Woodruff, eldest son; Samuel, 2nd; Enoch; Matthew; Isaac; wife, Sarah; children again, Jonah; Benjamin; Hannah, wife of Stephen Platt; Abigail, wife of "Fitch Kimberly"; Sarah Woodruff; Susannah Woodruff; Jerusha Woodruff. The son David is not mentioned in this abstract, but his name might have been in the original document.
