Logan Henry Dellinger was born on 3 Oct 1814 in Lincoln County, NC. He was the son of George Heinrich "Henry" Dellinger and Katherine Setzer. He was the seventh child of thirteen born to Henry and Katherine.

He married Elmira McCall in 1837 in North Carolina. They are documented as having 9 children, raising them in the Yancey County area. In 1860, he is documented as owner of a grist mill in Burnsville, Yancey County, NC

His wife, Elmira, died in 1873. In 1875, at age 60, Henry married 37 year old Pheriba "Pherbie" Ann Young., his son-in law's neice. He had met her when his youngest daughter, Virginia Loretta Dellinger married Pheriba's Uncle, Thomas Young, two years earlier in 1873.1900 census states they were married for 25 years.

Logan Henry died in 1904. He is buried in Academy Hill Cemetery in Burnsville, Yancey County, NC next to his first wife, Elmira McCall.
