Melvin Fred Endicott, Resident of Ponca City, Died Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 1998, at his home. He was 75.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 1998, at the First Christian Church, Ponca City, with the Rev Kent Dorsey presiding. The committal service will be at 4 p.m. at the Fowler Cemetery, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel, Ponca City.

Melvin Endicott was born July 5, 1922, in Arkansas City, Kansas, the son of Fred Lon Endilcott and Golden Lourelda Endicott. He attended Arkansas City schools, graduatin in 1941. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and tranined at Fort Hays, Kansas, completing his training at Canyon Texas. He served as crewman on a B-29 in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He met Betty Jo Salmon, during his training at Fort Hays, Kan. The couple were married on Feb 4, 1945 in Wichita Kansas. Melvin graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1949, with a degree in petroleum geology. He went to work for Parker Petroleum after graduation. He later worked for Western Oil Fields in Dallas, Texas, before establishing his independent geologist office in Ponca City in 1967. He has been a geologist and oil producer since that time.

Melvin was an avid gardener and hunter. He was member of the First Christian Church, Ponca City. He was also a member of the Ponca City AMBUC'S, Ducks Unlimited and Quail Unlimited.

He is survived by one brother, Don Endicott of Hurst Texas; five chidren, Ron Endicott and his wife, Cathy of Hot Springs Ark., Barbara Coates and husband Dick of Altus, Susan Buck and husband Larry of Ponca City, Craigh Endicott and wife Gaylyn of Muskogee and Kent Endicott of Ponca City; seven grandchildren, Christopher Buck, Caroline Buck, Lynn Endicottt, Andrew Endicott, Courney Coates, Chelsea Coates and Timothy Endicott; and numerous nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two brothers.

Casket bearers will be Jack Monour, C L Schneider, Jerry Sorrels, Dr. Gale McArthur, Elmer Horinek, Gary Aldrich, Ray Shaffer and Charles Mounts.

Memorial contributions may be made in Melvin's name to the First Christian Church, 210 North 5th Street, Ponca City, Ok 74601.

The casket will be closed at the service but friends and family may call at Grace Memorial Chapel until 9 p.m. Friday.

The family will be at the home, 809 Edgewood, Ponca City.
