Mr. Donald Roy Endicott

JULY 13, 1929 – DECEMBER 15, 2021

Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Donald R Endicott was born July 13, 1929, to Fred and Golden Endicott in Maple City, Kansas. Don went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ December 15, 2021.

Leaving behind wife 48 years, Margaret Endicott.

Don grew up in both Kansas and Oklahoma and graduated high school in Cushing, OK. In November 1947 he enlisted in the Army National Guard and became active duty in the U.S. Army 45th Infantry Division, Company D. Regiment Combat, PVT PFC Corpl SGT First Class. Don did a tour in Japan in 1951, just before the beginning of the Korean War. He received his Engineering degree at Oklahoma University and his working career began at Cessna in Wichita, KS. He later moved to Lockheed in Ft. Worth, Martin Marietta in Colorado, and back to Lockheed in Atlanta, GA. His tenure at Bell Helicopter began in 1963 in Hurst, Texas. After 32 years of service there, he retired in 1995 but he couldn't stay idle very long so after a short time in retirement, he returned as a consultant to Bell Helicopter and continued there into his 80s.

After leaving the Army, Don married Betty Chavis in 1953. Together they had six children: Mike, Eric, Leisa, and three children who died as infants: Linda, Lori, and David. Don and Betty remained together until Betty's death in 1971. Even though he endured so much tragedy, Don was still known as a funny, caring, and loving man. He married Margaret Verrill in 1973 and they remained together until his death.

Partly because he grew up on a farm, Don loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping when his kids were young, and gardening. Growing both flowers and vegetables that you can eat was important to him. He also like playing solitaire and dominoes, but he especially enjoyed sitting quietly and reading. He mostly read non-fiction books especially contemporary biographies, history and current events.

Don attended church whenever the doors opened, after moving to Texas he started attending Bethesda Community Church, which at the time was named Northside Assembly of God. There he served as a board member and worked on the finance committee and many other jobs with the church.

Don is preceded in death by his wife of 18 years, Betty Chavis Endicott; parents, Fred & Golden Endicott; brothers, Melvin Endicott, Albert Endicott, and Arthur Endicott; and son, Mike Endicott.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret Endicott; son, Eric Endicott (Lindy); daughter, Leisa Endicott; grandchildren, Daryl R. Endicott and Krystal Stubbs (Brad); great-grandchildren, Meris Endicott and Michael Albert Endicott; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Funeral was held at Bethesda Community Church, where he was long time member, under the direction of Pastor Dan Smith
