Joseph was the son of Francis Dack and Hannah (Walker) Dack. He was born in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire, England. He married Sarah Elizabeth Edwards on 5 Nov 1873 in Center Grove, Atchison, Missouri. The were the parents of 7 children: Hannah, Francis, Joseph Blanche, George, Joseph Edward, John and Mabel.

OBITUARY: Nebraska, Red Willow, McCook, Gazette states Joseph was born at Tydd St. Mary's, Lincolnshire, England, on June 6, 1847, died Mar 31, 1935, came to U.S. with his brother Blanch (Blanch was 4 years older), and settled near Tarkio, Missouri; married Sarah E. Edwards at Center Grove, Missouri, on Nov 5, 1873; they farmed there for 12 years and then in 1880 moved to Ruskin, Nuckolls, Nebraska, and farmed until 1907 when they moved to a farm southwest of McCook where they lived until 1919 when they retired and bought a home in McCook. Funeral was held in Christian Church, he was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Joseph Dack, Sr., a former resident of this community, passed away Saturday at his home in McCook. Mr. Dack came to this county in 1880, and lived on a farm south east of town for a number of years. Later they moved to town and after a few years they went to McCook, where some of the children had established their homes. Mr. Dack was preceded in death by his wife and one son. Several years after the death of his wife, he married again. This wife survives, also two daughters, four sons, several grand children and great grand children, and other relatives. Mrs. Oscar Skinner, a grand daughter of the deceased, went out for the funeral services which were held Monday afternoon and interment at McCook. There are many friends here of the family who extend sympathy to the bereved.
