Grady Smiley, 90, died Saturday, January 6, 2007, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Pearce County native had lived in Glennville most of his life. He was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Stewart, a lifelong member of Glennville First Christian Church, and an avid outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Madie Driggers Smiley.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Reginald and Martha Smiley of Acworth; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Ford Stone of Savannah; sisters, Rozzie Cook of Baxley and Mary Boyd of Pooler; five grandchildren: Denise Drennan of Kennesaw; Alison Reed of Martinsville, Virginia; Vicki Massey and Leslie McDaniel of Atlanta; and Bert Rahn of Brunswick; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, in the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville, with the Rev. James H. Crockett and the Rev. Jack Hudson officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bob Cook, James Reed, Eddie Cook, Kim Drennan, Rick Bryant, and Jeffery Drennan.
Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
