Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 1, in Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church and burial at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
She was born December 4, 1929, in the Bethany Community of Rockingham County, to Elbert and Gladys McCollum Farrar. She retired from Social Security in 1995 after 35 years of service.
Her parents and a sister, Revelo Farrar, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Herbert W. Martin of the home; daughter, Susan M. Abels and her husband, John T. Lilly of Greensboro; son, Phil W. Martin and his wife, Donna of Greensboro; sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene and Harvey Newnam of Greensboro, Sudie and Jimmie Isley of White Lake, and Barbara Farrar of Randleman. Also surviving are grandchildren, Luke Abels and Heather Martin and step grandchildren, Jenny and Meg Lilly.
