Maria was born in 1896 in Dezanovac, Pozsega County, Hungary as daughter to Janos and Katalin (Loczi) Gocza. She is often referred to as the "baby sister" of Rozalia Gocza (who married Alexander Farkas from Homokszentgyorgy, Hungary and immigrated to the US).

Some of the Voros family fled to Baranya County in Hungary during the Croatian uprisings, some with only a suitcase packed with clothing and a bit of food.

Maria married Lajos Voros about 1919 in Hungary; Lajos was born August 25, 1891 in Hungary as son to Janos Voros and Agnes Kovacs. Maria and Lajos Voros eventually settled in Szava, Baranya, Hungary; they have two known children,

1. Julianna Voros born about 1920 in Szava, Baranya, Hungary; Julianna died in 1936 at Szava.

2. Jozsef Voros, born 1921 in Veliki, Grdzsevac, Croatia. Jozsef Voros married Maria Fisli and settled in Pecs, Baranya Hungary to have three children, Julianna, Jozsef and Maria; Jozesf died in 1991 in Pecs, Hungary.

Maria died November 23, 1984 in Szava, Baranya, Hungary; her husband Voros also died in Szava, on February 17, 1973.
