Chris attended Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah (USU), where she met her college sweetheart, Brent M. Ritchie. They were married on June 14, 1948; marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Chris and Brent raised their family at Dugway Proving Ground and in Heber City. They have three children, Marilyn Ritchie Messmer (Dave) of So. Jordan, Carol Ritchie (Jim Gish) of Salt Lake City and Jim Ritchie (Peggy) of South Jordan.
Mom was always home for her children, packing lunchboxes, sewing, cheering from the sidelines and being the "ultimate" room mother. Chris was a well-loved teacher's aide at North and Central Elementary Schools in Heber City. Mom was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the American Cancer Society and served faithfully in her church callings.
She was a remarkable grandmother to the nine joys of her life: Emily, Lindsey, Kasey, Haley, Curtis, Conner, Griffin and Jadie; and great-granddaughter, McKaylee. She was the anchor in our family, and like her wonderful baked goods, she was the warmth and dessert in our lives.
Even when her health declined, her generous spirit did not. Through tireless devotion and care, Brent was a strength to Chris during the last years of her life.
