Funeral services for DuWayne H. Hansen, 81, of Truman, MN, will be held on Friday, September 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Waverly Lutheran Church in Waverly Township, rural Trimont, MN. Burial will be held following the service in the Waverly Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, MN, and one hour prior to the time of service at the Church on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m.. DuWayne passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at his home near Truman. The Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont is in charge of the arrangements. DuWayne Helmar Hansen was born on December 13, 1926, on the family farm in Waverly Township, rural Truman, MN, the son of Helmar and Cora (Holland) Hansen. He attended country school in Waverly Township and following his education began farming with his father. On March 29, 1947, DuWayne was united in marriage to Joyce Benson in LaSalle, MN. Together the couple made their home on a farm just two miles from where DuWayne was born and were blessed with three children, Neil, Gail, and Dale. When not working on the farm, DuWayne enjoyed attending area Threshing Bee's and was a proud member of the Buttersfield Thresher's Association. DuWayne had fun attending local Flea Markets as well as auctions and sales. He was an avid toy collector, collecting many different farm toys. DuWayne cherished time spent with family and friends especially the time spent with his grandchildren. He treasured memories made on camping trips throughout the years and will be missed by those that loved him and called him friend. DuWayne was a member of the Waverly Lutheran Church where he held numerous church office positions and was also a member of the JICase Collectors Association. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Neil Hansen and wife Cara of rural Truman, MN; Gail Larson and husband Gene of St. Bonifacius, MN; and Dale Hansen of Ormsby, MN; a special friend, Polly of Rural Truman, MN; three grandchildren, Justin Hansen, Christine Hansen, and Nathaniel Hansen; two sisters-in-law, Ardis Grotta and husband, Donald of Mankato, MN; and Mary Jane Benson of St. James, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. In addition to his parents, DuWayne is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; and an infant brother, Dale.
