On July 5, 1862 he was captured with a horse, arms and equipment near Battle Creek, Tennessee. Mustered under name of Ehlscheit.
According to records I found he was killed in Lafayette Georgia, originally buried in Ringgold Georgia and then later transferred to Chattanooga National Cemetery in Tennessee. I have found no info that he was ever married or had any children. His brother William did have a son he named after Christian.
