He was the son of Albert Dingess Sr. and Martha Ann Bryant-Dingess and the husband of Molly Agnes Gore-Dingess. He was the father of Grace Vaughn, Virginia Dare "Ginny", Elizabeth Ann "Freddy", Eugene Blake "Abe", Lucille Meredith, Leslie Dalmas, Charles Lester "Buster", Rayburn Taze "Ray",Rutherford "Ford", Cecil Kaldt and Anna Lee. He was founder of Halcyon, WV. post office where he operated a grocery store, grist mill, sawmill before relocating his family to Logan County, WV. They settled on Mud Fork near Mt. Gay where he had several land holdings and operated a grocery store, gasoline filling station,apartment building and the home the family lived and grew up in. This house is barely standing today and with the construction of Corridor G passing directly behind the home the Albert Dingess Jr. cemetery is in the garden of the home. He was a teacher and ultimately became superintendent of Logan County Schools ran for public office as a committeeman for the democrat party.
The life and times of Albert are detailed by his first born child Grace Vaughn Dingess-Harris-Dingess in two books authored by Vaughn; "Memoirs and Stardust" published in 1991 and "A Journal of Love" by Vaughn Harris-Dingess published by in 1986 by Wilson/Jones Creative Design Group a company held by her grandson. Vaughn is buried at the side of her first husband and father of her children Charles Wilson "Charley" Harris in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, Logan County, WV.
