John Henry Searcy was born Dec. 11, 1905 in Golconda, Illinois. He moved to
Alamogordo with his parents and siblings in 1920 at the age of 15. He married Mary
Esther McDonald May 20, 1931 in Alamogordo.
He owned and operated Searcy's Grocery Store at 602 10th Street from 1938 until
1954, and later became associated with the Dalton Agency as a real estate
salesman, where he was employed at the time of his death.
A member of the Order of De Molay, joining in 1920, he was also Past Master of
Sacramento Lodge No. 24, AF & AM (1935), a Past Patron of Alamo Chapter No. 11
Order of the Eastern Star (1959), a member of the York Rite, and a member of First
Baptist Church in Alamogordo.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jack L. Stricklan on August 13, 1974 at
11:00 a.m. Burial, with military honors, was at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
