Mary E. Searcy, 89, a long time resident of Alamogordo, died Monday, May 8, 1995, at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital

Mrs Searcy was born March 30, 1906 in Somerville, Texas, the eldest of seven children born to Andrew Washington and Ethel May Glasson McDonald.

Upon graduation in 1930 from West Texas State Teacher's College, Canyon, Texas, she came to Alamogordo and taught at Alamogordo High School. She married John Henry Searcy on May 20, 1931 in Alamogordo.

She was a member of First Baptist Church for 64 years and a member of Alamo Chapter No. 11, Order of the Eastern Star for 61 years, serving as Worthy Matron in 1940 and later as Secretary; she was also a docent for many years at the Alamogordo Museum of History.

Dr. Robert Butler, pastor of First Baptist Church officiated at her funeral at 10:00 a.m. on May 12, 1995. The Alamo Chapter No. 11, Order of the Eastern Star funeral team officiated at the committal service at Fort Bliss National Cemetery that afternoon.
