Donald Breeden Jr., 67, of Ashkum, died Thursday (Aug. 7, 2008) at his home, following a lengthy illness. There will be no visitation. Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Ashkum United Methodist Church. The Rev. Steve Hartman will officiate. Memorials may be made to Harbor House or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.

Mr. Breeden was an auto mechanic. He was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Thawville, the son of Donald Sr. and Florence Roach Breeden. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR racing.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Melinda "Pepper" and Bill Ader of Kankakee; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel "Boone" and Linda Breeden of Watseka; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Harms and her companion, Gary Berns of Ashkum, Brenda Demierre of Kankakee; and one brother, Gene Breeden of Loda.

Deceased are his parents, one brother and one sister.
