OBITUARY :
DELORIS LEE (HALTERMAN) PATTERSON, 73, a resident of Pleasant View Nursing and Rehabilitation, Mount Airy, Md., and formerly of 204 W. Second St., Waynesboro, died at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, in the nursing home. She had been in failing health for the past several years.

Born Oct. 19, 1933, in Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of the late Albert G. Halterman and Della Pauline (See) Byers. She lived her early life in the Winchester area.

She and her husband, James W. "Jim" Patterson, were married June 28, 1954, in Hagerstown. Mr. Patterson died Sept. 14, 2002. Mrs. Patterson entered the nursing home July 12, 2007.

Mrs. Patterson earned her GED from Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

In her early life, Mrs. Patterson was a waitress at Pen Rock Hotel, Pen Mar. She later was a seamstress at various clothing factories in Waynesboro, including Connie's Sportswear for 12 years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fairview Ward, Waynesboro.

Mrs. Patterson also was a member of William "Max" McLaughlin VFW Post 695 Ladies Auxiliary, Waynesboro.

She enjoyed ceramics and sewing.

She is survived by two brothers, Albert G. Halterman Jr. of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Melvin L. Halterman of Cascade; two stepsisters, Junia Warthen of Emmitsburg and Nancy Paxton of Chambersburg; one half brother, Percy Byers Jr. of Falling Waters, W.Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Percy Byers, Sr..

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fairview Ward, 11887 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, with Bishop Douglas M. Parks officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mont Alto.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Monday in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fairview Ward, 11887 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

Arrangements were made by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
