The funeral will be Wednesday for J.C. "Bud" Parris, 65, Salisbury, NC who died Sunday (May 4, 1997) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health. Born Dec.26, 1931, in Cherokee County, SC, Mr. Parris was a son of the late Willie Carpenter and Hattie Ethel Camby Parris. Educated in Cherokee County, SC, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He had retired after 21 years with Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills. Earlier, he was owner/operator of a service station. He was a member of Yadkin Baptist Church, Spencer, where he was active in the Men's Sunday School Class and the Brotherhood.
Survivors: include wife Ruth Moore Parris, whom he married Aug. 9, 1955; son Dennis Wayne Parris,Salisbury; Daughters Debra Parris Hill, Salisbury, and Teresa Parris Schaeffer, Mooresville; brothers Dean, Lloyd, Larry and Ronnie Parris, all of Pacolet, SC, and Bill and John Earl Parris, both of Salisbury; sisters Miriam Parris Millwood, Jonesville, SC, and Dorothy Parris Thorton, Dearborn, Mich.; and 10 grandchildren.
Services: 3 P.M. Wednesday, Lyerly Funeral Home, James C. Lyerly Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Horace Buchanan, Rev. Randy Crowell and the Rev. Joe Black. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park. Military rites by Rowan County Veterans Council. Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home. Memorials: Yadkin Baptist Church, 150 Yadkin Baptist Church Road, Salisbury, NC 28144.
