On Feb 9, 1918 MRS JOE A SAMS, Daughter of MR. and MRS. ROBERT BLACKSTOCK, and, wife of Deacon J. H. SAMS of the FLAT CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH, passed away at her home. She was born May 16, 1858 being 59 years 9 month and 23 days old at her death. Some time after her marriage she quietly professed faith in Christ at her home, and soon after, was united with the FLAT CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH, where she remained a loyal member until her departure.

Quiet and unassuming by nature it was in the home circle that MRS. SAMS strong Christian character shone most resplendently. Her life was devoted to her husband and children, and her church.

For many years it was her hands that prepared the elements for the celebration of the Lords Supper. She instilled into the minds of her children that purity of thought and devotion to God that characterized her own life, and it was her joy to see all of them develop into Godly and useful women. She was kind and hospitable in her home, and much loved and respected by her many friends and neighbors.

We the FLAT CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH lament her death, and tender our sympathies to the friends and relatives of the deceased. The funeral services were conducted in the home by her Pastor, assisted by REV. MCCRACKEN, and her body laid to rest in the BLACKSTOCK FAMILY CEMETERY. She is gone but not forgotten.
