Story of the Sargent Family 7-4-1972
by Ella Peterson Sargent

Lee, was born August 23, 1891 in the brick house in Burnside. After finishing the eighth grade at the Burnside school, he did his two year term on the milk wagon. Then he attended the Agricultural school, graduating in 1912. He also went for a short time to the University of Minnesota. He spent some time working at Crookston with his brother Forrest and also worked for his brother-in-law George Grant in Canada. He returned to Burnside and took over the management of the family farm. He married Ella Jane Peterson (me), on July 31, 1918. We lived in Burnside for two years, then Lee established a milk bottling and distributing company in Red Wing. He called it the B.B. Milk Company, and his trade mark was "Bossy's Best". After ten years he sold the business to the Marigold Dairies, Inc.. This was during the Depression, so times were hard. He worked for the Sinclair Oil Company for a time, for four years for the Goodhue County Highway Department. In the summer of 1937 he built a house in Burnside, it is the Cape Cod cottage on Rose Avenue, near the highway.

In 1938 moved to Hager, Wisconsin, specialized in raising hens. Had as many as 1,300. hens at one time. We lived on the farm until Lee's death in 1959 from cancer. Our greatest "pride and joy was our family".
