Story of the Sargent Family 7-4-1972

Plato, was born in Burnside in 1889. He attended Red Wing High School, Macalester College and also Harvard University. He became a successful lawyer in Red Wing and also Pine Island, Minnesota. He married Violet Melander in 1920. They raised three children. These three families live in various parts of St. Paul, Minnesota. When Plato retired, he and Vi moved to St. Paul to be nearer to their children. Violet died in 1965 after a long illness, and Plato passed away in 1967 following a heart attack.
Plato and his family have all been active Presbyterians all of their lives. He served as a delegate to the national Presbytery several times. Plato served in the Air Corps during WWII.
1) Louise, Married Attorney John Robertson and had 5 children. Louise & John were graduates of Macalester College in St. Paul. He had been in the Navy in WWII. He died suddenly on July 6, 1971. He had a history of heart disease. His large funeral showed the love and respect his many activities, especially in his church, and his friendly nature had earned him.

2) Carol, and her husband, Dr. J.C. Gutherie, also met at Macalester. 'Cam' the doctor, studied medicine at the University of Minnesota. He is now practicing in St. Paul. They have six children:
1. James Cameron (commonly called J.C.)
2. Deborah
3. Peggy
4. Janet
5. Nancy
6. Betsey
3) James, (known as Jim) and his wife Jean are also graduates of Macalester. They have 5 children. Jim has received his doctors degree and is an official in the St. Paul school system.
