HEWITT.--Hobart Doane Hewitt, age 82, composer of children's violin and piano melodies and member of a family of musicians, died today at his home in Burlington, Burlington Co., New Jersey. He was the son of George Hewitt, also a composer. His grandfather held the post of royal court musician in London. For more than a half century Professor Hewitt had conducted a music school in Burlington. Among his compositions is the Christmas Symphony used in churches throughout the world. He is survived by three children, Stephen A. Hewitt, Miss Mary Hewitt and Mrs. Virginia Bachoffin, all of Burlington. A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday at 209 East Union Street. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington, New Jersey.
