Delbert Stimpson
Delbert Stimpson, 82, of Calhoun, Missouri, died Monday June 16, 2008, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born March 20, 1926, in Loyalton, South Dakota, to Vernon Barton and Lillian Gloria (Gange) Barton.
Delbert was employed as a truck driver for over 50 years with Bekins Van Lines and Atlas Van Lines, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 3667, Clinton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1894, and the Windsor American Legion Post. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Marines in the South Pacific.
On March 9, 1946, he married the former Patricia Marie Mueller in Robinsdale, Minnesota. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a half-brother Clinton Barton, a grandson Christopher Stimpson, a sister-in-law Shirley Stimpson, and his stepfather Howard Stimpson.
Additional survivors are: two sons, David L. Stimpson and his wife Marsha of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, and Danny H. Stimpson of Calhoun, Mo.; a daughter Darlene (Sissy) McFeters and John Meineke of Garden City, Mo.; six grandchildren; one brother Donald H. Stimpson of Leeton, Mo.; a half-sister Shirley Fields of Hillsburg, California; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial at Englewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:00 to 10 30 a.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call from noon to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Military services at the grave will be under the auspices of Clinton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1894. The family suggests memorial gifts to the Delbert Stimpson memorial fund in care of the funeral home.
