He was one of nine children of Thomas Peace and Rebecca Bennett. He married Sarah Frances Young on July 24, 1894 in Whitley Co., KY. They had the following children:
Bertha Peace (1895-1975), m. Arthur Campbell.
Baby Peace (ca 1897-bef. 1900)
Maud Peace (1900-1965, m. Ancil Manning.
Thomas Jefferson Peace (1903-1929), m. Louisa Powers.
Edward "Edd" Peace (1908-1955), m. Helen Cameron.
Flora Mae Peace (1911-2002), m. Martin Wesley Rains.
James Claude Peace (Apr. 1914-Aug. 1915)
