HAZEL GREEN, Wis. -- Mrs. Joseph (Joy) Behnke, 69, of Hazel Green, died Thursday morning, May 29, 2008, at home surrounded by her family.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery, East Dubuque, Ill. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave.
She was born in Dubuque, and graduated from Dubuque Senior High. She married Joseph Behnke on Dec. 27, 1957.
Joy was employed at Hartig Drug before her retirement, where she was able to share her imaginative artistic talents and cheerful disposition with her customers and co-workers, who she remembered fondly.
Surviving are her loving husband of 49 years, Joe Behnke; children, Carrie (Jay) Kinsley, of Rockford, Ill., Mark, of Dubuque, Sally (Danny) Francois, of Dubuque, Sue Behnke, of Key West, Iowa, Mike (Lisa), of Farley, Iowa, and Joe (Brenda) Frick, of Asbury, Iowa; and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Delphine VanVleck, and her beloved cats, Butch and Myster.
