Mrs. Anola Coffey Peebles, 80, widow of the late Bird Peebles, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 4:30 p.m. at the Carlinville Area Hospital where she had been a patient three days. Mrs. Peebles suffered a stroke Saturday at her home, _ _ _ West Main Street.

Mrs Peebles was born Jan. 4, 1879 in Milltown, Kentucky. Most of her life had been spent in Carlinville and vicinity. She was married in September 1897 to Bird Peebles. They resided on a farm in Bird township for many years, and she was a devout member of the Charity Baptist church. To them were two sons, Harrol H (?? should that be Harold H ?? don’t know) of Compton, California, and Charles, who died two years ago. Her husband died in 1947. The son from California cam to Carlinville on learning of his mother’s critical illness.

Besides the son she is survived by four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and a brother, Frank Coffey, of Palmyra.
