Ivy Kennon, 93, went home to the Lord on May 18, 2008, after a long decline in health.

Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at George Price Funeral Chapel in Levelland, with Jay Kelley, Minister, Austin St. Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the Ft. Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso.

Ivy was born the third child of James Robert Allison and Frances Etta Ivy Allison. She graduated from high school in Slaton in 1933, and from business school in Sherman. Ivy married Wilfred Henry "Kenny" Kennon on Dec. 24, 1942, in El Paso. They were married 61 years, until Kenny's death in April 2004.

Ivy was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and actively participated in church life in all of the towns where the family lived during and after Kenny's service in the U. S. Air Force: El Paso; Irving; Greenville, S.C.; Montgomery, Ala.; Phoenix, Ariz.; and Abilene. Ivy taught Sunday and Vacation Bible School, co-hosted hundreds of events such as luncheons, dinners, wedding showers, baby showers, and graduation teas, and cooked for countless pot lucks. She was a long-time member and past president of Abilene Civitan Club and long-time member of the Abilene Model-A Club. Her house was on the Abilene Iris Trail.

Ivy loved flowers, cats, and reading. She made a warm and supportive home for her family.

She is predeceased by husband, Wilfred Henry "Kenny" Kennon; sister, Margarette Ruth Allison Clark, of Dallas and Abilene; brother, Hubert Allison, of Waco; and nephew, Winston O. Clark, of Houston. She is survived by daughter, Phyllis Kennon, of Levelland; daughter, Janice Kennon Jackson and husband, Jim J. Jackson, of Fort Collins, Colo.; nephew, Richard Clark and wife, Betty, of San Marcos; nephew, Bruce A. Clark and wife, Rose, of Rockwall; many wonderful in-laws in El Paso, Waco, Abilene, and many cherished friends in Roswell, N.M.
