Singer and actor. Born to Vanemuine theatre actors Lembit Mägedi and Ellen Kaarma, he began his career singing in the Estonian pop/rock band Fix in the early 1970s. He became a well-known baritone of the theatre, performing in operas, operettas, and stage musicals, giving solo performances during his engagement at the Estonian National Opera, and performing internationally. He also found success as a stage, television, voice, and film actor. His first prominent role as an actor was in the 1978 Peeter Simm-directed comedy television film Stereo, before appearing in a variety of roles in dramas, musicals, and comedies. Popular film roles include: Inimene, keda polnud, (1989), Rahu tänav (1991), and Those Old Love Letters (1992). From 1993 until 2020, he played the role of Harry Ahven in the long-running Eesti Televisioon (ETV) drama serial Õnne 13. In 2007, he appeared as the legendary Estonian singer and actor Georg Ots in the Andres Maimik and Rain Tolk-directed road movie comedy Jan Uuspõld läheb Tartusse. He also dubbed a number of animated foreign films into the Estonian language, including characters from Disney and DreamWorks Animation productions. A heavy smoker for most of his life, he died of lung cancer at age 66.
