Berendina Van Eerden, resident of La Glace, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at her home west of La Glace, at the age of 93 years.

Berendina was born August 4, 1926, in the Netherlands and lived through the Nazi occupation of her homeland in her teenage years. She married Johannes in 1948 and they immigrated to Canada as newlyweds that same year. After working on various farms around Calgary, in 1960 they bought and moved to their farm west of La Glace where they continued to raise their family.

Their faith and trust in God and mindfulness of His grace characterized their lives and work. Berendina stayed active on the farm after the death of Johannes in 1983. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her unconditional love for everyone of her family will be cherished.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Sandy (Fred) Nyland, Derk (Gail), George (Cheryl), and Roy (Jane); 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Berendina was predeceased by her husband Johannes in 1983.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 11:00am, at Northfield Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held with family and friends at a later date.
