John was born in Holland and after serving with the Dutch underground in World War II, immigrated to Calgary with his wife in 1951. He was a farmer, carpenter, and after going back to school at the age of 48, worked until his retirement as Building Manager for the Suncor Tower in Calgary. He was an active member of the Christian Reformed Church which he helped establish in Calgary and contributed numerous volunteer hours during the early construction years of the Calgary Christian School.
A Memorial Service will be held at River Park Church, 3818 - 14A Street S.W., Calgary, AB on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to River Park Church or your favourite charity.
