Estelle Loftis Mayhew, 71, of 1145 Doctor Milam Rd., died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Danville Regional Medical Center, after a stay of one week and a decline in health for the past year. Mrs. Mayhew was born in Danville on April 11, 1936, the daughter of the late James Lorenzo Loftis and Kathe-rine Jackson Loftis. Mrs. Mayhew was a homemaker and spent her life in the Sutherlin community of Pitt-sylvania County, and was a member of the Tabernacle. On January 24, 1953, she married Roy Jake Mayhew, who died on April 13, 2007. She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Dale Mayhew, of Sutherlin, Va.; three sons, James Ray Mayhew, of Blairs, Va., George Coleman Mayhew, and Johnny Raymond Mayhew, both of Danville, Va.; three brothers, James Ralph Loftis and Kenneth Wayne Loftis, both of Sutherlin, Va., and John Henry Loftis, of Ringgold, Va.; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Lou Mayhew, a son, Roy Wayne Mayhew, and by a brother, Lynwood Loftis. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. in Floral Hills Memory Gardens by the Reverend Robert Vermillion.
