Leone was born to Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Perkins May 9, 1884, and died of tuberculosis May 20, 1904, aged 20 years and 11 days.

In memory of Leone, written by her sister, Mrs. Hall.

Why hath He called thee to leave us, Leone!
To cross that surging tide?
Why leave parents, friends and home
To rest on the other side?
Oh we have watched in anguish and pain,
Thy form as it wasted away;
Thy frail little body will slumber in death, And mold and waste and decay.
But thy spirit shall shine forevermore
And be our guiding star,
To that fair haven of rest with thee
As we watch and pray from afar.
Oh precious daughter, sister, friend,
Peaceful and calm is thy brow:
They dear little hands once busy and bright,
Are sweetly resting now.
We will know sometime why Jesus took
Thee to join the angel band,
We will know sometime why thou hast gone,
Sometime we will understand.
We are coming, daughter, sister, dear,
And when we reach that land,
Of they beautiful home beyond the stars,
Then we will understand.
