A native of Rockingham County, she was a graduate of Greensboro College and attended UNCChapel Hill and High Point University. She taught school in High Point and Raleigh, and was a social worker in Greensboro. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of American Colonies.
Surviving are sons, William Fleming Bailey Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., T. Edward Bailey of Raleigh; sisters, Mrs. Lucille Wyche of Waynesville, Mrs. Kathleen Suggs of Winston-Salem, Miss Frances Brown of Reidsville; brothers, Henry Meador Brown of Reidsville, James Russell Brown of Greensboro; six grandchildren.
