Florence Gertrude Cole was born to Florence Joslin and Ernest Walter Cole. She had one sister named Ida Bowers Cole.
Florence's mother passed away when she was 8 years old, and her sister was only 2. Her father disappeared from the family when she was in her mid to late 20s.
She and her sister were raised by their mother's adoptive parents, Ida and John T. Bowers. Of the two granddaughters, only Florence was legally adopted by John and Ida. Ida Bowers, after her husband's passing, lived with her adopted granddaughter until her death.
Florence, later in her life, married Stanley Adelbert Zimba but the marriage did not last long and they did not have children.
It is assumed that she lived out her remaining years in an institution somewhere for those with mental health issues. Unfortunately, the name of this institution was never found out as she was taken around the same time of her sister's passing by someone who was not a relative, two of her nephews lived out of the country, and one nephew was making burial arrangements while in nursing school. No notice of her passing years later was ever sent to her family, and attempts to contact the family about her whereabouts at the time of her involuntary admittance were only made once.
