We first find Bella 25 years old on the 1870 Houston County Census dated 01 December 1870. She tells the census taker she was born in Alabama. She is living with her husband, Lewis Beazley and their one year daughter, Eliza. Their are several others listed in the household. They are living down the road from George and Rachel McDaniel and their family. We also find Bella listed on the F.L. Meriwether Plantation Records in Dalys. She was living on the Plantation, when these records were recorded. Bella would have been one of those listed on Dr Meriwethers, Slave Census dated 1860.

Arabella was the mother of eleven known children, not necessarily listed in birth order:
Eliza Beazley b 1869....Lillie Beazley ....Eddie Beazley B 1872...Zack Beazley b 1875...Boatsey Beazley b 1877...Pet Beazley b 1877....John Beazley b 1879...Willie Lewis...Edgar Lewis...Laura Hart b 1900. We did not know if Bella had children before 1865.

For the early years of her life, Bella lived in Slavery. Not much is known about her. But I feel like Bella must have been a beautiful woman. She was truly loved by all her children, so she must have been a wonderful mother. All our research shows the children we find, knew who their Mother was, and were proud of her.

In spite of their oppression, the slaves did not behave like a defeated people. Instead, they tried to make the best of their lives and to carve out what independence they could. Most Slaves were allowed to be on their own in the evenings and during time off on Saturday afternoons and Sundays. They took full advantage of their time, to enjoy their families and try to keep them together; to build a remarkable religious community; and to create a rich and influential cultural heritage, especially in the area of music.
