A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Floyd Glen and Vada Fender Hamlin Sr. He was also preceded in death by his ex-wife Mary W. Hamlin. Jerry was a US Army Veteran of the Viet Nam war and was a self employed grading contractor.
He is survived by his sons, Russell and Lonnie Hamlin; sisters, Ruth Christopher, Iva McKinney, Margaret Frizzell, Faye Hamlin; brothers, David, James, Aaron, and Bill Hamlin all of Asheville, F. Glen Hamlin of Cruso, Eddie Hamlin of Canton and Dennis Hamlin of Orlando, FL; twenty-three nieces and nephews and twenty-one great nieces and nephews.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Volunteer Memorial Team.
