Mrs. Allen was the daughter of Hugh Blair and Ursula McKeen, and was born in 1840. Her parents were native of Pennsylvania. The marriage of Judge William J. Allen and Miss Anna McKeen, of Maryland, was celebrated in December, 1858. Of the union of Judge Allen and his estimable wife six children were born, five of whom are now living, namely: Willis, Miriam, Robert M., Louise and John B. All are at home with their parents, making a most attractive and happy family, and are members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, to which the Judge and his wife also belong.

Robert M. Allen, agent of the J.S.E. line, received a telegram about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon from his father, Judge W. J. Allen, which bore the sad intelligence of the death of Mrs. Allen, which occurred at We que-ton-sing, Mich., about noon yesterday. Mrs. Allen has been suffering from nervous prostration for about four months past, and about three weeks ago, she had recovered sufficiently to enable her to travel and went to We-que-ton-sing, accompanied by all her family excepting Willis H. Allen, who is in Chicago, and Robert M. who is in this city. Mrs. Allen was a most estimable woman, and the news of her death will be read with great sorrow by her many friends, who join in expressing their most profound sympathy with the husband and bereaved family.
Annie McKeen Allen was born in Logansport, Ind., in 1841, and was in her fiftieth year at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Hugh McKeen, one of the first founders of Loganport. She was married to Judge Allen in 1860 and came to Springfield with her family in 1886. She was a thorough Christian, and a devout member of St. Paul's Episcopal church. She leaves to mourn their deplorable loss, besides her husband, three sons, Willis H. Allen of Chicago, Robert M. and John B. Allen of this city, and two daughters, Misses Miriam and Louise, who were at the bedside with their mother at the time of her death. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Chauncy Brooks of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. U. G. Cunningham of Washington, D.C. The remains will be brought here for burial.
