BARTLETT " BART " METCALF

WOODFIN - Bart Metcalf, 75, of 39 Hickory Lane, died Sunday in a Black Mountain health care center.

A native of Flag Pond, Tennessee, he had lived in Buncombe County for the past five years. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Flag Pond.

Surviving are his wife, Frankie Hensley Metcalf; five daughters, Janice Buckner and Mable Resse od Asheville, Mafre Johnson of Leicester, Alberta Webb of Atlanta, Georgia and Reba Metcalf of the home; two sons, Robert Metcalf of Asheville and Larry Metcalf of Weaverville; four brothers, Jake, Tony, Zade and Hubert Metcalf of Flag Pond; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of West Funeral Home. The Revs. Lloyd Ponder and Dale Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in the State Line Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
