Ferenc Borsody, son of Dr. Joseph and Veronica Mueller Borsody, was born September 19, 1913, in Dresden, Germany. He departed this life Monday, January 12, 2004, in St. John's Hospital – Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, three months, and twenty-three days.
On April 25, 1977, he was united in marriage to Bernice Opal Bryant, and together they shared the last twenty-six years.

His parents preceded him in death. Ferenc is survived by his loving wife, Bernice, of the home; a stepdaughter, Peggy Moore, of Lebanon, Missouri; a stepson, Cleo Crabtree, and his wife, Barbara, of Lebanon, Missouri; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was born and raised in Germany and at the age of seventeen joined the German Air Force, later serving in the German Army during World War II. He was awarded three Iron Crosses for his meritorious service, before being captured by the Americans and made a P.O.W. In January of 1945, he was released into the French Army and found himself in Indochina for a few years. He later was part of the French forces that were deployed to Korea as part of the United Nations force and after that was released from the French military. It was then that the United States military approached him. On September 9, 1952, Ferenc joined the U. S. Army as a private and served in Vietnam where he received two Bronze Stars and ten Purple Hearts during the next seventeen years. In 1972, he retired from the Army and went to work as a security guard in Kansas City, where he met Bernice. They eventually moved to the Lebanon area and made their home. Ferenc had accepted Christ as his personal Savior, and attended the First Baptist Church of Lebanon.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 4107 and the American Legion Post # 43 in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed taking care of his lawn and gardening. He liked cooking and enjoyed canning his homegrown produce and sharing it with several families. He also was an avid fisherman. His family was very important to him, and he especially loved being called "Pa Pa Frank" by his grandchildren.

Ferenc was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and cherish the memories he created for us.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 15, 2004 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Hufft Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30 under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon Missouri.
