FORT LAWN, SC – Mr. Ronald Wayne Gandy, age 75, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022. He was born February 3, 1947, in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late Carl Gandy and Viola Ray Gandy and was the husband of Linda Pate Gandy. Ronnie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired after 32 years from Bowater where he was known by his coworkers as "Chico". Ronnie loved life, enjoyed working in his yard, riding motorcycles, camping, going to the lake, and loved animals and rescues. For over 40 years, Dixie Baseball was a huge part of Ronnie's life, and he was affectionately known as "Mr. Baseball". He coached, umpired, and served as State Director and Assistant Deputy Director on the National Board. Ronnie loved his church, Bethel Baptist, where he served on numerous committees, Sunday School teacher, and member of the choir.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Gandy; two daughters, Melissa Whitener, and Rhonda Gandy (Will Gooch); a son, Kevin Henderson; a brother, Wayne Gandy (Julie); a sister, Debbie Lucas; his best friend, Rev. Steve Anglin; and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life Service for Ronnie will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Steve Anglin. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lancaster SPCA, PO Box 3042, Lancaster, SC 29721, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Attn: Memorial Dept., 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38501, or Dixie Youth, Scholarship Fund, 207 W.
