Politician. He was a Guatemalan liberal politician known for his various political positions and his participation in the independence of Guatemala. He took part in the independence movement and in the constitution of the United Provinces of Central America, a confederation of Central American states in which Guatemala was integrated. He was president of the Guatemalan Constituent Assembly and in 1824 he was elected deputy head of the State of Guatemala.
