Maude Fannie Wells Sharpe, 91, of 16 Sandy River Road, Leicester, died Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Park Ridge Hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Commodore and Addie Israel Wells. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alex Sharpe, who died in 1990; four brothers, Walter Wells, Zeb Wells, James Wells and Russell Wells; two sisters, Pearl Ingle and Bonnie Woody. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Wines and her husband Benny, of Canton, Helen Jo Riddle and husband Elmer, and Hilda Caldwell, of Leicester; sons, David Sharpe and wife Becky, and Eugene Sharpe and wife Iva, of Leicester; sisters, Mae Freeman, of Leicester, and Edna Detter, of Lenoir; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, including a special great-grandson, Joseph Hawkins.
