Eugene J. "Gene" Jacobi, 95 years of age passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at his home in Georgetown, IN surrounded by his family. Gene was born December 16, 1925 in Louisville, KY to the late Fred and Carrie Jacobi. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a truck driver for both Huber & Huber Motor Express and later retired from Smith Transfer Corp.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Agnes in 2006, brother, Billy Joe, sister, Pauline Lonsway, and a grandson, Michael Thompson.
He is survived by his children, Sandy LeMaster, Terry Jacobi (Denise), Jody Thompson (Mike), Tim Jacobi (Donna), Chris Jacobi (Kim), Jim Jacobi (Marcia), and David Jacobi, 15 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St, New Albany, IN. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 am Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial and military honors to follow in St. Mary's Navilleton Catholic Cemetery.
