Alonzo Hook, 61, of 2402 Willow St., died Monday at Baptist Hospital Born in Orangeburg County, he was a son of Charlie Hook and the late Elizabeth Shuler Hook.

Mr. Hook was an investigator with the Columbia Police Department for 24 years.

Lt. John L. Keefe, Chief of detectives, said Tuesday, "Al was a model street cop if there ever was one. He probably had more confidential sources than anyone I've ever known in police work. He was very proud of his job as an investigator and worked very hard at it."

Mr. Hook was a member of Sidney Park C. M. E. Church, a member of the trustee board and a Navy veteran.

He was twice married, first to the former Willa Dean Riley.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ollie Alston Hook; six daughters, Mrs. Lonell H. Jones, Mrs. Myrtle H. Goodwin, Mrs. Esther H. Gaffney, Mrs. Janella H. Green, Mrs. Berlinda H. Adams of Orangeburg and Alfreda Hook of Columbia; four sons, Charles Hook of Jacksonville, Fla., Alonzo, Jr. and Ronald Hook of Orangeburg and Bruce Michael Hook of Columbia; a brother, Leroy Hook of Brooklyn, N. Y., 25 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 1 p. m. Thursday at Sidney Park C. M. E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Q. H. Whitlock. Burial will be in St. Stephens United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harry Bannister, Wiley Davis, Albert Yarborough, Dorsey Taylor, Edward Sinnott and John L. Keefe.

Johnson's Funeral Home is in charge.
