Virginia S. Field

Virginia S. Field, 81, of Mineral Wells died April 8, 2004, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 5, 1922, in Crellan, Md., a daughter of the late Russell and Edna Beckman Stover.

She had worked as a nurse for several years and was a member of the Chesterville United Methodist Church, where she had been a Church Youth Group Leader and Sunday School officer.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by her son, Dean Field and his wife, Judy, of Mineral Wells; her daughter, Jean Smith and her husband, Carl, of South Charleston; grandson, Michael Field and his wife, Geri, of Mineral Wells; granddaughters, Kristi Wilson and her husband, Tim, of Cisco, W.Va., Erica Smith of South Charleston and Katy Field of Mineral Wells; great-granddaughter, Peyton Field of Mineral Wells; brothers, W. Dwight Stover and his wife, Mary, of Oakland, Md., and Clifford Stover and his wife, Donna, of Kingwood, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, June Brand of Mineral Wells.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Fields, in 1993; great-grandson, Dillon Wilson; sisters, Becky Thomas and Mildred Hardin; and brother, Russell Stover Jr.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Bob Summers officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today and prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend their special thanks to Dr. Nik Shah, Dr. Tony Samaha, the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital's Transitional Care Unit and Zina Hawkins with the Dietary Department for all the special care given to Virginia during her extended stay at their facility.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 4451, 3901 Briscoe Road, Parkersburg, WV 26104, or the charity of the donor's choice.
