President of Bolivia. Germán Busch Becerra was a former Bolivian military officer, hero of the Chaco War, and later President of Bolivia twice non-consecutively, first as interim president from 17 May to 20 May 1936, and then as president from 1937 to 1939. He served initially as interim president following his overthrow of then-president José Luis Tejada in 1936 and again as de facto president after overthrowing Tejada's successor David Toro Ruilova the following year. He would later be elected by the National Convention in 1938 as Constitutional President of the Republic only to declare himself dictator just one year later. Busch was buried in the Cementerio General de La Paz. A cenotaph in his honor along with Gualberto Villarroel and two urns with the remains of Juan José Torres and Juan Lechín Oquendo, are exhibited in the Monumento a la Revolución.
