Jesse Solomon Ray, son of Thomas Leander Ray and Ivey Betsy Hensley Ray, married Rosannah "Rosey" McKinney 1822, Buncombe County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Charles McKinney and Rachel Inman McKinney. Rosannah was born 1799 Buncombe County, North Carolina, died 1860 Yancey County, North Carolina.

They were parents of the following children:

2. Hesikiah A. Barnard (Barnett) Ray
3. Mary Caroline "Polly" Ray
4. Sarah Ann Tabitha Ray
