Mass will be said Friday for Cathedral City resident Jose Mercado, who died May 22 at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs He was 63. A native of Mexico, he was a resident of Cathedral City for 15 years. He had lived in California for 25 years. Mr. Mercado was employed as a gardener at Westward Ho Hotel. He is survived by his wife, Maria Mercado of Cathedral City; three daughters, Celia Rosales, Esther Ayala and Lupe Mercado, all of Cathedral City; four sons, Jose Mercado Jr, Arturo Mercado, Juan Mercado, Mario Mercado and Lupe Mercado, all of Cathedral City; andseven grandchildren. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m, today at St. Louis Catholic Church in Cathedral City. Mass will be recited at 1 p.m. Friday at the church. The Rev. Michael J. Brooks of the St. Louis Catholic Church will officiate Interment will be at Desert Memorial Park in Palm Springs. Wiefels and Son mortuary of Palm Springs is in charge of arrangements.
