Clara Elizabeth Neidhardt, daughter of George Neidhardt and Anna Maria Muench, was born on 28 August 1890 in Granville, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. On 21 September 1890, Clara was baptized at St. Martin Catholic Church in Engleburg, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. Her baptismal sponsors were Anton Schwister and Anna Zearbel(?). About 1910, Clara lived with her sister, Connie, and Connie's husband, Gustav, in Milwaukee while Clara studied stenography at Spencerian College.

On 1 November 1911, Clara (age 21) married John Henry Roepke (age 23), son of Frederick Roepke and August Marlowe. The couple had six children (one stillborn). Clara's husband was a milkman for Gridley Dairy (which later became Borden Dairy) in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.

In 1969, John (age about 81) and Clara (age about 79) moved to St. Anne's Nursing Home for the Elderly in Milwaukee and for five years enjoyed life there with friends, daily Mass, and good care.

On 11 September 1974, Clara died from heart problems. Her obituary, in part, reads: "Nee Neidhardt. Wed. Sept. 11, 1974, age 84 years. Beloved wife of John H., dear mother of Sister Alice S.S.N.D., Grace Dettman, John L (Margaret), Raphael (Joan), Mary (Frank) Mente, Paula (Robert) Immel of Antioch, California and…sister of Rose Wendorf…In state at St. Anne's Home for the Elderly, 3800 N 92nd St. Fri., from 4 to 9 pm with vigil service at 9 pm. Funeral Mass Sat. at 9:30 am. at the home chapel. Interment Holy Cross. On 13 September 1974, Clara was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. Clara's husband, John died in 1976 and was buried next to her.
