Waynesville-Herman Conner, age 94, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019 surrounded by family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Ruby Conner, his parents George and Harriett Conner, his only sister; Bessie Davis, one grandson; Christopher Michael Conner and a granddaughter; Haley Grace Moore.
Herman is survived by his daughter; Cathy (Kent) Lowdermilk of Sylva, six sons; Johnny (Linda) Conner; Gerald ( Shirley) Conner, Dean (Stephanie) Conner; Clyde (Deb) Conner, Danny (Tonuia) Conner and Ricky (Kay) Conner all of Waynesville; along with 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephew.
Herman was retired from Taylor Ford Motor Company as an auto detailer. He loved fishing, camping, gardening, animals, hunting and the outdoors. Herman loved his family and get togethers. He was an advocate for and loved making music with almost everything he could get his hands on.
The family would like to thank Aaron Crawford and Staff at The Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center along with his care providers Emily Crawford and Steven Queen.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at Balsam Baptist with Reverend Jimmy Grissom and Reverend Kent Lowdermilk officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening September 23, 2019 from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm at Smoky Mountain Chapel. Burial will follow services at Balsam Baptist Cemetery.
Herman's Grandsons and extended family will be serving as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers.
